Madame Vo is Minting a Lobster Special NFT

Whoever said you can’t have your cake and eat it too must not have known about NFTs. In this case, it's an NFT of our wok-fried three pound lobster special, which you’ll be able to earn when you come in person to our restaurant at 212 E 10th Street in the East Village. We’re partnering with The Hundreds — the acclaimed streetwear brand that was one of the first to be a part of the hype scene — to bring this exclusive Madame Vo lobster special NFT to life.

What is an NFT?

An NFT, which stands for “non-fungible token,” is a piece of digital property that is entirely unique and irreplicable. The data is owned by an individual, rather than a central organization like Twitter or Google, and is hosted in that individual’s crypto wallet. Bitcoin, Ether, and NFTs are a part of the third evolution of the Internet, commonly referred to as “Web3” technology.

Because an NFT is a unique piece of digital property, like an original painting or sculpture, it has monetary value that can fluctuate depending on a whole bunch of factors, including demand. When new NFTs are made, it’s called “minting,” just like the US Treasury mints coins and dollar bills. After a particular NFT is minted, it has a value ascribed to it — which again, fluctuates — that the individual can sell to others for cryptocurrency, which is then transferable into real dollars.

Why are you partnering with The Hundreds?

NFT week, known as NFT.NYC, this year runs from Tuesday, June 21 through Thursday, June 23. We love to have a good time and be plugged into New York, so we decided to get Madame Vo involved. For us, that took the form of partnering with 8it for their NFT FOOD HUNT, in which restaurant goers will participate in a scavenger hunt of sorts. The name of the game is going from one restaurant to the next, eating a particular dish, logging it in the 8it app, getting your submitted meal picture verified, and having that restaurant’s official NFT sent to your crypto wallet.

Madame Vo is the only restaurant in the scavenger hunt collaborating with The Hundreds. We jumped at the chance to partner with them because they’re an amazing streetwear brand that exudes style. Also, Chef Jimmy is a hype beast himself and loves The Hundreds.

How exactly do I get Madame Vo’s NFT?

This is the best part: all you have to do is come in, take a seat, and order our lobster special from Monday, June 20, through Wednesday, June 22. Chef Jimmy fries each three pound lobster in a wok in his special sauce, seasons each one with ginger and scallion, and serves it with a side of buttery garlic egg noodles.

The exact steps for minting our lobster special NFT, called the “Lobster Bomb Squad,” are as follows:

  1. Download and launch the 8it App for free, and input the password “NFTNYC”

  2. Sign in or create an account

  3. Click on @NFT.NYC🔎

  4. Scroll through the list until you find “THE LOBSTER BOMB” by Madame Vo X The Hundreds, and give it a click

  5. Hit “DIG IN” and then “CLAIM NFT”

  6. Upload a photo of what you’re eating

  7. The 8it team will verify the dish and send you a special Lobster Bomb NFT to your crypto wallet’s address designed by @thehundreds as well as five points

  8. At the end of the week you’ll be able to win prizes like the “NFTs ARE A SCAM” T-shirt by The Hundreds, restaurant gift cards, merch, and more!

There are only 10 Lobster Bomb Squad NFTs available each day, so be sure to come in and secure yours sooner rather than later!
