Madame Vo Shout-Outs: APAHM Edition

Madame Vo APAHM Shoutouts

What makes Madame Vo successful isn’t just the delicious food, friendly service, and lively atmosphere, but also the love and support we feel from our neighbors and community throughout New York City. Though it can be a big and overwhelming place to live and work, New York has some of the most exciting businesses in the world, and we want to share a few of our favorites!

We wanted to take a moment to acknowledge some of our favorite Asian-owned businesses during Asian and Pacific American Heritage Month that can make any day better. Whether you need a luscious coffee or are looking for your baby’s next adorable outfit, these are the brands that we simply cannot get enough of.

An.mé

Located in the heart of the East Village and just around the corner from our restaurant, an.mé is the perfect place to find unique and fashionable clothes for babies and kids. What we love about an.mé isn’t just that it’s a curated selection of fashionable clothing options for your little ones, but also that it’s co-owned by Annie and Melissa — two real New York moms.  Options at an.mé include onesies, rompers, shoes, accessories, and a whole host of novelty gifts At an.mé, Annie and Melissa have created a space imbued with care and comfort. Learn more about an.mé on their website and Instagram page.

Le Phin Coffee

Le Phin

Le Phin is another East Village neighbor we love. Just down the street from Madame Vo, this bright and airy 10th Street coffee shop serves a classic lineup of espresso-based drinks as well as a menu of signature drinks that we go crazy for. Their signature drinks include phin-brewed Vietnamese coffee, Vietnamese iced coffee, pandan latte, and more. We especially love the black sesame latte, so be sure to order yourself one if you’re in the mood to sink into a silky, rich cup of craft coffee. You can learn more about Le Phin on their Instagram page.

Hi Noona Smoothies

Hi Noona

For the best juices, bites, and bowls, we love to hit up Hi Noona. Founded by beauty editor and brand consultant Stella Pak, it’s the perfect spot for us to get a quick bite that isn’t too far from Madame Vo, and we love all the different Asian flavors they include in their juices and smoothies like ashwagandha, daikon, and matcha. The food is also amazing and easy to take on the go. Be sure to check out Hi Noona’s website to learn more.

Lady Wong

What a better way to make life sweeter than with dessert? Lady Wong has dessert covered with pastries and cakes that are inspired by contemporary American confectionery while focusing on traditional Southeast Asian flavors like calamansi, pandan, durian, and mango. Even better, Lady Wong also crafts classic kuih, which are bite-sized Asian desserts like onde onde and kuih angku. Check out Lady Wong’s full menu on their website and learn more from their Instagram.

Queens High Pearl

Queens High Pearl, formerly known as Queens Seafood Restaurant, is an especially important place for Madame Vo — it’s where Jimmy and Yen had their first date! Queens High Pearl has been open for almost 40 years now, and it’s no secret as to why: this down-to-earth, no-frills restaurant cooks up some of the best Chinese food in New York. The entire staff is either from Hong Kong or Guangzhou, China, and owner Alice Chan has been running the show for decades. What began as a date over superb Chinese food at Queens High Pearl has blossomed into a romance and partnership between Jimmy and Yen at Madame Vo. You can read more about Queens High Pearl on their Yelp page, or better yet, make the trip there yourself.
